Overwhelmed by the thought of pulling up to dock of a restaurant, or the sandbar full of boats and having to maneuver between boats? A captain can teach you the skills to master docking, anchoring and maneuvering around other boats.

Whether you’re new to powerboating or looking to boost your confidence in docking and close-quarters maneuvering, this course is perfect for you. The Boat Control On-Water Training Course Modules are specifically designed to teach essential boat handling skills to recreational boaters and individuals operating vessels for marine patrol. Led by an NSBC Certified Instructor, the course covers everything from safety equipment and pre-launch procedures to docking and refueling in tight spaces.​

If you have boating experience, want to get familiar with local waters or learn how to handle a boat larger than a 13′ Boston Whaler, these classes will improve your boating skills so you can boat all season long.

Kids 15 years or younger can take classes with a parent / guardian.  Kids 16 and older can take the class independently. (Boat Lessons)

Course Schedule and locations  for each of the four course modules, Each on water hands on training module is approximately 3 hours long, but time length may vary depending on the age and boating experience of the student.

Florida Boat Lessons' courses are designed for

  • single engine 

  • twin engine

  • pontoons/tritoons

  • planing hulls

  1. Our courses are taught by a NSBC Certified Instructor.

  2. Students qualify for a certificate of completion after demonstrating the skills in each course. This course aligns with the American National Standard for on-water skills, as confirmed by an independent third-party assessment process. Strict adherence to the curriculum is crucial, as any modifications or deviations would invalidate the course verification. Recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as American National Standards, the On-Water Power, On-Water Sailing, and On-Water Human-Propelled standards outline the core skills that entry-level recreational boat operators are expected to demonstrate after instruction. Boating Safety Education I.D. Card

Prior to taking any the course, students are required to complete this short FREE Florida Boating Safety certificate.

In the United States, more than 40 states have boater education requirements that must be successfully completed before you can legally operate your recreational vessel on state waters.

You need boating education in Florida if you were born on or after January 1, 1988, and you will be operating a motorized boat of 10 hp or more.

Course is FREE and meets insurance requirements.
